When a Cold’s Not Just a Cold
I can feel the chill in the air in the mornings and evenings at the moment. I’m starting to think of slow cooked casseroles and soups and being cosy and warm inside. I might not be so enthusiastic about the cold in the depths of winter but I love the change of seasons.
In any case, like it or not, with winter comes a lot more colds and flu so in the clinic I stock up on respiratory and immune herbs ready for the onslaught. It might surprise you the huge variety we have in our herbal arsenal to support the immune system and treat respiratory infections so you’re not spending the whole winter feeling miserable.

How To Take Herbs
The easiest way to take these herbs is in an individualised herbal formula made up for you in the clinic. Herbs are chosen according to your symptoms and you can rest assured they are best quality, medicinal herbal medicines. In this form, the effective dose is only small, usually 5mL and more of the active constituents are bioavailable so you get the best bang for your buck. Of course, you can also make the dried herbs into teas and most of them are available these days in tablets or capsules. Be sure to check the equivalent therapeutic dose for each.
